Vaporetto pass optimizer
Tell the tool how many days you'll ride and how often. It returns the cheapest pass for your pattern and the exact day count at which each pass starts paying off.
What this solves
Single tickets are €9.50 for 75 minutes. A 24-hour pass is €25. A 72-hour pass is €45. The arithmetic is simple but the variables aren't — when you add an evening Line 1 cruise plus a Murano day-trip plus three rides on day two, the right answer flips. This tool runs the math against your actual ride pattern and reports the cheapest option.
How to read the result
"Total rides" is your planned pattern multiplied by days, with each lagoon-island visit counted as two extra rides (boat there + boat back). The recommended option is the lowest total cost for your pattern. Breakeven day-count is shown for each pass — the day at which the pass first beats buying singles.
Single tickets are valid 75 minutes from first validation. A return ride within 75 minutes is effectively free. If your rides are tightly clustered, count them as one.
Limitations
FAQ
Does the pass include Line 1?
Yes. ACTV urban passes cover every line on the lagoon network, including Line 1 (slow scenic Grand Canal ferry) and Line 4.1/4.2 (express).
What if I ride at 04:00?
The 75-minute timer is from your first validation, not from midnight. Late-night rides within 75 minutes of an earlier validation are still covered by the same ticket.
Where do I validate?
Yellow ACTV machines on every dock or inside the boat. Validate before boarding; an on-board fine for an unvalidated ticket is €100+.
