Walking pace estimator
Pick origin and destination, the party type, and the conditions. The tool returns estimated walking minutes with bridge counts, bridge-closure detours, and acqua alta penalties.
What this solves
Venice is 6 km of pedestrian ways and 400+ bridges. A "10-minute walk" from the map becomes 25 minutes because of two bridge crossings plus a wrong turn. With luggage, with kids, or during acqua alta, it gets worse. This tool returns realistic walking time including bridge penalties.
How to read the result
"Estimated minutes" is the realistic walking time. "Bridge count" is the number of bridges on the route (each adds 1-3 min over flat walking). "Detour" flags any closure or flood-driven rerouting. "With your party" gives the practical time given party constraints.
A "step-free" route is rare in Venice. Even the bridges designed to be accessible have a few steps. Plan accordingly for mobility needs.

FAQ
How long is the walk from the train station to San Marco?
About 35-45 minutes on foot, crossing 3 bridges. Most visitors take the vaporetto (line 1 or 4.1/5.2).
What about with a stroller?
Avoid it. Most bridges have 3-5 steps at each end. Take the vaporetto instead, or plan to fold the stroller and carry it up.
Is there a flat route anywhere?
No. Every route in Venice has at least one bridge. The flat ones are along the Riva degli Schiavoni promenade (no bridges but crowds).
