Murano / Burano / Torcello hop optimizer
Tell it where you start and how many islands you want to see. The tool returns the best line sequence, total vaporetto cost, and what each island has.
What this solves
The three lagoon islands — Murano (glass), Burano (lace + colorful houses), Torcello (Byzantine cathedral) — are a half-day round trip from Venice. The line choices and how much time to allocate depend on what you actually want to see. This tool returns the route, the lines, the cost, and the realistic time budget.
How to read the result
"Plan" is the order to visit islands, including line numbers. "Cost" is the vaporetto spend for one adult with your pass choice. "Time budget" is realistic minutes including wait at each dock. "What to see" is the must-see on each island.
Murano glass factories: 4 are open to visitors (not all). Burano lace: only 2-3 ateliers are still actively making. Torcello cathedral: 30 min visit, then a quiet glass island walk.
Limitations
FAQ
Do I need to book Murano factory visits?
Most factory tours are walk-in. Barovier&Toso, Venini, and Berengo Studio accept drop-ins. Book for the famous ones (Barovier&Toso) at least one day ahead.
Can I just walk on Torcello?
Yes — Torcello has a population of ~10 people and is mostly wild. Walk through the cathedral and to the bell-tower. Plan 1-2 hours.
Is Burano worth a half day?
Yes — for the colorful houses and lace. The lace is mostly a museum now (Museo del Merletto). The town itself is the attraction.
