Venice Compass Outdoors

Lagoon kayak feasibility

Tell the tool your month, experience, kayak type, and plan. It returns whether the conditions are right and the loop to try.

What this solves

The Venetian lagoon is a tidal, current-driven, sometimes-wild sea. Novice kayakers assume calm conditions and end up in trouble. Italian law also requires a license (FICK / FIPSAS kayak license) for any paddling more than 100m from shore without protection. This tool returns the right plan and the license requirement.

How to read the result

"Feasibility" is a simple go/no-go. "License needed" tells you whether an Italian kayak license is required. "Loop" is the recommended route. "Tide window" is the best hours to launch.

Wind is the main risk — a 15+ knot Bora (NE wind) creates dangerous chop. Tide changes every 6 hours and can move 1-2 km/hour. Plan for the wind before the kayak.
